The Casitagua usually has a hot and sunny climate for a good part of the year. An advise for those who want to hike: bring sunscreen, a hat and enough fluids to hydrate. Sack and poncho of waters are many times required.
Over the years, the inhabitants of the Pomasqui Valley have made the Casitagua their "training place", opening numerous paths to the upper part of the mountain.
All these trails lead to the upper crest of the Casitagua where the trail leads to the forest considered "the summit".
The real summit of the Casitagua is a dome covered with shrubs and bushes, very difficult to ascend. But, if your spirit's adventurous, convince your chubby friend to have the opportunity to open "a new route", yes, don't tell him (her) it's difficult.
The Casitagua is the ideal place for Entomology lovers; Mosquitoes, bungas, wasps, hornets, devil's horses, nest there, all very voracious, eager to exchange human blood for a photo.
The proximity of this mountaxin to the city of Quito, and especially to the Pomasqui valley, make it an attractive place to train or acclimatize to higher altitudes.
An interesting adventure is to go on the crest of the Casitagua, from the hill of Gavilan, to the forested summit, and down to Pusuqui Alto, the road is marked on the map with the green color, ends at Pedro Porras street.
