    Description

Day 1: Cotopaxi National Park, Limpiopungo Lagoon and José Ribas Refuge

We will pick you up from your hotel in the north center of Quito at 11:30am to transfer to the Cotopaxi Volcano. Our trip will last about three hours to the José Ribas Refuge, including the time we will stop in Machachi for lunch (lunch not included). The tour will be along the Panamericana Sur with very attractive landscapes of the Tambillo and Machachi valleys, where we will delight in observing the intense green of the mountain range with many attractive mountains. The climb to the Cotopaxi National Park presents many eucalyptus and pine forests, as we gain altitude it transforms in the beautiful Cotopaxi “páramos”. We will have a last 20 minutes stop at the Limpiopungo lagoon to rest and take some photos.

Overnight at the José Ribas Refuge with dinner included

    Day 2: Cotopaxi Summit

We will set off for the summit at midnight and hope to arrive between 6 and 7am. It will be a demanding night hike, but with beautiful scenery and unforgettable adventures. We will have time for breakfast at the refuge and leave for Quito around noon, with an estimated arrival time at 2:00pm. End of our services.

Breakfast included at the José Ribas Refuge

Please note that Cotopaxi has become more demanding and may present some difficulties due to the effects of global warming. Although it’s not technically difficult, it’s recommended to have prior glacier hiking knowledge and the high mountain equipment use.
