Description

Those who visit the Cotopaxi National Park, entering through the Caspi Control (main entrance), will notice the Visitor Center after passing a few kilometers beyond the control. It will appear to the right with two wooden houses and a parking lot. This place offers detailed information about the Cotopaxi history, flora, fauna, volcanism, etc. They also have a small craft store, a restaurant-café, and public bathrooms. For those who like hiking, you can follow El Páramo Trail to enjoy the beautiful views of Cotopaxi and have a good introduction to what the National Park may offer.

How to get

Eastern Mountain Range; 48 kilometers in a straight line southeast of Quito, 16.5km southeast of Machachi.

  1. “Caspi Control” Approach: From Quito, take the Panamericana Sur highway towards Latacunga, passing Machachi, you go up to the Tiopullo hills and then go down in the direction of Lasso. Just at the end of this descent you will find a well-marked detour that indicates the exit to Cotopaxi. The entrance road to the park is paved for the most part, in the middle distance is located the Caspi Control of the Cotopaxi National Park. A few kilometers beyond the control, towards the right side, you will find the Cotopaxi National Park Visitor Center.
