Tour to the Pululahua Volcano Crater

We invite you to discover the Pululahua Volcano, in whose crater is located a quiet farming and livestock community. We will pass by the Mitad del Mundo Monument, and then head to the Pululahua Volcano Crater viewpoint. We will descend along an old path to the crater and then take a hike around the Pondoña volcanic dome. On this visit you will be able to contemplate beautiful landscapes of Andean crops and the lush mountain forest that gave its name to the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve.

Description

We leave Quito at 8:00am from the Catholic University sector, 12 de Octubre Avenue and Veintimilla. We will head along Simón Bolivar Avenue towards the north of Quito and the Mitad del Mundo Valley where the equatorial line passes.

Pululahua Crater Viewpoint

Before descending into the crater we will stop to enjoy the beautiful views from the viewpoint.

Pululahua Commune

The Pululahua Commune is a tiny farming and livestock community that lives inside the Volcano Crater. The surroundings are very beautiful and peaceful, a delight to hike along these paths surrounded by agricultural and livestock plots that are the daily work of the community.

Circumvallation of the Pondoña Volcanic Dome

The Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve is a clear example of the great geological and volcanic activity of the Ecuadorian Andes. On this circumnavigation of the Pondoña, we can observe how this volcano was formed and also the enormous diversity of Andean flora that covers its slopes.
