Many have climbed to the Corazon Volcano summit, to do so they have had to hike along a road which starts at the Ilinizas Ecological Reserve Access Control. What few people know is that this road continues far back, breaking away from the Western Cordillera, and descending to the coastal subtropical forests. Eventually the “car” road ends in trails that continue down through tunnels of branches that are somewhat tangled. It's assumed that someone lives there, since the trails are being maintained. This hiking trail is fully enjoyable, especially on clear days, offering beautiful views of the Ecuadorian coast.
