Description

The Cotopaxi National Park can offer some magical corners for those who venture a little beyond the classic tourist routes, one of them is this outcrop of crystalline waters in the middle of three ancient volcanic promontories covered with the gold paramo. It's known as Manantiales or Springs. There you can see how the pure water springs up after its underground journey whose origin is the Cotopaxi glacier melting. A beautiful place to rest and photograph, especially if you've arrived by bicycle or horse.

    How to get

Eastern Cordillera; 48 kilometers in a straight line southeast of Quito, 20.6km southeast of Machachi.

    1. “Control Norte” Approach: Go to the Machachi central square and ask the people for the road to the Cotopaxi National Park, North Access Control. The first section is paved and later ballasted. It's necessary to register at the north control, ask the park rangers for the “Manantiales” road, which is precisely the path to the left as soon as you pass the entrance control. This route may be more appropriate for 4x4 or high-traction vehicles.
