Panzaleo - Rumiñahui South Summit is a route to climb the southern summit of the Rumiñahui Volcano, starting from the north face that faces Machachi and Panzaleo. The route is entertaining and long, as it goes from 3420m to 4704m of the Rumiñahui South Summit. The first part is an easy “paramo” hike with beautiful views. This route requires overcoming some sandbanks and the long rocky ridge where it can be difficult to find the right route; the climb is mostly of III degree, reaching IV at some point near the summit, where it may be advisable to use a rope for greater security.
